Treatment of anxiety/panic disorder, adjunct treatment of seizure disorders (e.g., absence, myoclonic, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome), short-term relief of acute anxiety symptoms as prescribed

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA at GABA-A receptors in the brain. This calms excessive nerve activity, helping reduce anxiety and prevent seizures.

Take exactly as prescribed. Mouth dissolving tablet: place on the tongue and allow it to dissolve; swallow with saliva (water optional). Can be taken with or without food; take at the same time each day. Do not stop suddenly—dose should be tapered by a doctor.

Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, impaired coordination, confusion, memory problems, slurred speech, nausea

May cause sedation, dizziness and impaired coordination—avoid driving or operating machinery. Risk of dependence, misuse and withdrawal; do not stop abruptly. Use with caution in elderly, liver disease, respiratory disease/sleep apnoea, depression or suicidal thoughts. Concomitant use with opioids or other CNS depressants can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma or death. Not recommended without medical advice in glaucoma (narrow-angle), severe liver impairment.

Alcohol, opioids (e.g., tramadol, morphine), other sedatives/sleeping pills, antihistamines causing drowsiness, antipsychotics, antidepressants, anticonvulsants (e.g., valproate, carbamazepine, phenytoin), CYP3A inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin, ritonavir) and inducers (e.g., rifampicin)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
