How It Works
Ebastine is a second-generation H1 antihistamine that blocks histamine receptors, reducing allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching and wheals. It is relatively less sedating than older antihistamines in many patients.
Directions for Use
Take as prescribed, commonly 10 mg once daily. Can be taken with or without food; swallow with water. Avoid driving if you feel drowsy.
Use caution in liver disease and in patients with known QT prolongation/arrhythmias. Do not exceed prescribed dose. Seek medical advice if palpitations, fainting, or severe allergic symptoms occur.
Drug Interactions
Ketoconazole/itraconazole (increases levels and QT risk), erythromycin/clarithromycin (QT risk), other QT-prolonging medicines, alcohol or CNS depressants (increased drowsiness in some), grapefruit juice (may increase levels)
