Hypothyroidism, thyroid hormone replacement, initiation/titration dose in elderly or cardiac patients (as prescribed)

Levothyroxine provides synthetic T4 hormone which the body converts to T3. It replaces deficient thyroid hormone and helps normalize metabolic activity and TSH levels.

Take once daily on an empty stomach with water, 30-60 minutes before breakfast, or at bedtime 3-4 hours after food (consistent routine). Keep 4-hour gap from calcium/iron/antacids. Follow doctor-directed dose titration based on TSH.

Palpitations, anxiety, insomnia, tremor, headache, sweating, diarrhea, weight loss (usually with excess dose)

Dose is individualized; too high a dose can cause chest pain, arrhythmias, or bone loss. Use caution in coronary artery disease, hypertension, elderly, and adrenal insufficiency. Monitor TSH regularly; avoid abrupt discontinuation or brand switching without guidance.

Calcium, iron, antacids, sucralfate, cholestyramine, orlistat, enzyme inducers (rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin), sertraline, warfarin, antidiabetic drugs

Store below 25°C, away from light and moisture, in original packaging.
