Treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency, rickets/osteomalacia due to deficiency, supports calcium absorption and bone/teeth health in infants and children

Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is converted in the body to active vitamin D, which increases absorption of calcium and phosphate from the gut. This helps maintain normal blood calcium levels and supports bone mineralization and growth.

Oral drops: use the calibrated dropper as directed by the doctor/prescription. Can be given directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of milk/water; avoid mixing in a full bottle feed to ensure the full dose is taken. Use regularly for best results.

Nausea, vomiting, constipation, loss of appetite, stomach upset, increased thirst, increased urination

Do not exceed the recommended dose; overdose can cause hypercalcaemia. Use with caution in kidney disease, kidney stones, hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or high calcium/vitamin D levels. Avoid giving alongside other vitamin D/calcium supplements unless advised. Seek medical help if symptoms of high calcium occur (persistent vomiting, constipation, weakness, excessive thirst/urination).

Thiazide diuretics (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide) may increase risk of hypercalcaemia, digoxin/cardiac glycosides (arrhythmia risk with high calcium), anticonvulsants (phenytoin, carbamazepine) and rifampicin may reduce vitamin D effect, cholestyramine/orlistat may reduce absorption, corticosteroids may reduce vitamin D action, aluminum/magnesium antacids (caution in renal impairment)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
