Uses & Benefits
Smoking cessation; helps reduce nicotine withdrawal symptoms and cravings in people trying to quit tobacco/smoking
How It Works
Nicotine gum provides controlled doses of nicotine through the oral mucosa to reduce withdrawal symptoms when stopping smoking. It helps curb cravings and allows gradual reduction of nicotine dependence when used as per a quit plan.
Directions for Use
Chew 1 gum slowly until a peppery/tingling taste appears, then park it between cheek and gum; repeat chew-and-park for about 30 minutes. Use when craving occurs; typically 8–12 gums/day initially (do not exceed 24 gums/day). Avoid eating or drinking (especially acidic beverages like coffee/juice/soft drinks) for 15 minutes before and during use. Taper frequency over 8–12 weeks or as advised by a doctor.
Not for children; keep out of reach (nicotine can be fatal if swallowed by a child). Use with caution in people with recent heart attack, serious heart rhythm disorders, worsening angina, uncontrolled hypertension, stroke, severe liver or kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, diabetes (may need dose adjustment), gastric ulcers/GERD. Do not chew continuously like regular gum; may cause nausea/hiccups. If symptoms of nicotine overdose occur (nausea, vomiting, sweating, pallor, dizziness, rapid heartbeat), stop use and seek medical help. Avoid smoking or using other nicotine products concurrently unless under medical supervision.

Drug Interactions
Adenosine (may increase cardiovascular effects), cimetidine (may increase nicotine levels), varenicline/bupropion or other nicotine replacement therapy (additive nicotine effects if combined). Stopping smoking can change metabolism of some drugs (e.g., theophylline, clozapine, olanzapine, warfarin, insulin needs) due to removal of smoke-induced enzyme effects—monitor with doctor.
