Uses & Benefits
Inflammatory fungal skin infections such as tinea (ringworm), jock itch and athlete’s foot with marked redness, itching and inflammation (when prescribed)
How It Works
Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal that damages fungal cell membranes by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. Beclomethasone is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness and itching in the affected skin.
Directions for Use
Cream: Clean and dry the affected area, apply a thin layer 1-2 times daily or as prescribed. Use for the duration advised; avoid occlusive dressings unless told. Wash hands after use and avoid contact with eyes, mouth and broken skin.
Side Effects
Burning, stinging, irritation, dryness, itching, skin thinning with prolonged use, acneiform eruptions
Warnings & Precautions
Steroid-containing antifungal creams should not be used for long durations or on large areas as they can mask/worsen infection and cause skin thinning/striae. Avoid use on face, groin and armpits for prolonged periods unless directed. Not for bacterial/viral skin infections. Consult doctor if no improvement in 1-2 weeks.
Drug Interactions
Other topical steroids or irritant products on same area may increase irritation; strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase steroid exposure (unlikely with topical use)
Storage Instructions
Store below 25°C, protect from heat and moisture, cap tightly closed.
Substitutes
Candid-B Cream, Clocip-B Cream, Canesten-B Cream, Fourderm Cream, Panderm Plus Cream
