Known side effects of Amaryl M 1MG include Hypoglycaemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, metallic taste, dizziness, headache, weight gain. Not everyone experiences these side effects.

Important Warnings
Risk of hypoglycaemia (higher with missed meals, alcohol, strenuous exercise); do not skip meals. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increased with kidney disease, dehydration, severe infection, alcohol use, heart/liver failure; kidney function should be assessed before and during treatment. Temporarily stop metformin around iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised. Use caution in elderly and in those with G6PD deficiency. Seek urgent care for symptoms of severe hypoglycaemia or lactic acidosis (rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, confusion).
