Important Warnings

Use with caution in patients with slow heart rate, heart block, heart failure, low blood pressure, asthma/COPD (beta-blockers may worsen), diabetes (may mask symptoms of low blood sugar), thyroid disorders, and liver disease. Do not stop atenolol abruptly as it may worsen angina or precipitate heart problems. Monitor blood pressure and pulse regularly.

digoxin (may increase bradycardia/AV block risk)
verapamil/diltiazem (risk of excessive bradycardia/heart block)
clonidine (rebound hypertension if stopped incorrectly)

antiarrhythmics (e.g.
amiodarone)
alcohol (may increase dizziness/low BP).
