ATIVAN 2MG TAB is used for Short-term management of anxiety disorders, anxiety associated with depression, preoperative anxiety/sedation (as prescribed).
Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of GABA (an inhibitory neurotransmitter) at the GABA-A receptor. This reduces neuronal excitability, producing anxiolytic, sedative, muscle relaxant and anticonvulsant effects.
Dosage & Directions
Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Usually taken by mouth 1–3 times daily; can be taken with or without food (take with food if stomach upset occurs). Avoid abrupt discontinuation; dose is typically tapered to stop.
