Atorvastatin 5 mg
High cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia), mixed dyslipidaemia, prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in at-risk patients
Atorvastatin inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, a key enzyme in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and can raise HDL (good cholesterol), reducing atherosclerotic risk.
Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue diet and exercise advice; do not stop without medical advice.
Common side effects of Avas 5 Tablet may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use with caution in liver disease, heavy alcohol use, hypothyroidism, kidney problems, or history of muscle disorders. Seek urgent care for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, fever, or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Monitor liver function as advised.
