Important Warnings

May cause sedation, dizziness and impaired coordination—avoid driving or operating machinery. Risk of dependence, misuse and withdrawal; taper gradually under medical supervision. Use caution in elderly, depression/suicidal thoughts, history of substance use disorder, liver disease, respiratory disease (COPD/sleep apnea) and myasthenia gravis. Concomitant use with opioids or other CNS depressants can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma or death. Not for abrupt discontinuation; may worsen seizures.

carbamazepine
phenytoin and phenobarbital may alter clonazepam levels/effects; CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g.

clarithromycin) may increase levels; CYP3A4 inducers (e.g.
rifampicin) may decrease effect
