Important Warnings

Not for type 1 diabetes or for treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of genital mycotic infections, UTIs and rare Fournier’s gangrene—seek care for genital pain/swelling/fever. Can cause dehydration, low blood pressure and dizziness (higher risk in elderly, diuretic users). May cause ketoacidosis even with near-normal sugars—seek care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing. Monitor kidney function; not recommended in severe renal impairment/end-stage kidney disease; stop temporarily during major surgery/acute illness as advised. Use caution with history of recurrent UTIs.

Insulin or sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk)
diuretics like furosemide/torasemide (dehydration/hypotension risk)
antihypertensives (additive BP lowering)
lithium (levels may decrease)
other SGLT2 inhibitors (duplicate therapy)
