Dapazia 10 contains Dapagliflozin 10 mg. It belongs to the SGLT2 inhibitor (sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitor) class of medicines.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (as an adjunct to diet and exercise) to improve glycaemic control; may also be used in certain patients with heart failure or chronic kidney disease as prescribed by a doctor

How Dapazia 10 works

Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that reduces glucose reabsorption in the kidneys. It increases urinary glucose excretion, thereby lowering blood sugar, and can also produce mild diuresis and weight reduction.

How to take Dapazia 10

Oral tablet. Usually taken once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow whole with water. Dose and duration as advised by the physician; maintain hydration.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause dehydration and a fall in blood pressure. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Dapazia 10

Most side effects of Dapazia are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Genital fungal infection
• urinary tract infection
• increased urination
• thirst
• dizziness
• low blood sugar (when used with insulin/sulfonylurea)
• nausea

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for type 1 diabetes or for treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Risk of genital mycotic infections, UTIs and rare Fournier’s gangrene—seek care for genital pain/swelling/fever. Can cause dehydration, low blood pressure and dizziness (higher risk in elderly, diuretic users). May cause ketoacidosis even with near-normal sugars—seek care for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, rapid breathing. Monitor kidney function; not recommended in severe renal impairment/end-stage kidney disease; stop temporarily during major surgery/acute illness as advised. Use caution with history of recurrent UTIs.

Do not take Dapazia if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with severe kidney disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin or sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk), diuretics like furosemide/torasemide (dehydration/hypotension risk), antihypertensives (additive BP lowering), lithium (levels may decrease), other SGLT2 inhibitors (duplicate therapy)

How to store Dapazia 10

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Take it in the morning so the extra urine does not disturb your sleep. Keep up your fluid intake and maintain genital hygiene. Tell any doctor treating you for an acute illness that you take this medicine.
