Important Warnings

Risk of hypoglycaemia especially with missed meals, excess exercise, alcohol use, or dose changes. Use with caution in elderly, malnourished patients, and those with kidney or liver impairment. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor about recurrent low sugar episodes; carry glucose/sugar source. Rare but serious: severe allergic reactions, blood dyscrasias, liver dysfunction—seek medical help if jaundice, unusual bruising, fever/sore throat occur.

other antidiabetics including insulin
beta-blockers (may mask hypoglycaemia)
fluconazole (may increase gliclazide effect)
rifampicin (may reduce effect)
corticosteroids and thiazide diuretics (may raise glucose)
warfarin (may enhance anticoagulant effect—monitor INR).
