Gliclazide modified release 40 mg
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (adult) to improve blood glucose control along with diet and exercise; may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines as prescribed.
Gliclazide is a sulfonylurea antidiabetic. It stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells and improves peripheral glucose utilization, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed. Usually taken once daily with breakfast/first main meal; swallow tablet whole (do not crush/chew) if modified-release. Monitor blood glucose regularly and do not skip meals to reduce risk of hypoglycaemia.
Common side effects of GLYCOZAR-M 40MG TAB may include:
Risk of hypoglycaemia especially with missed meals, excess exercise, alcohol use, or dose changes. Use with caution in elderly, malnourished patients, and those with kidney or liver impairment. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Inform doctor about recurrent low sugar episodes; carry glucose/sugar source. Rare but serious: severe allergic reactions, blood dyscrasias, liver dysfunction—seek medical help if jaundice, unusual bruising, fever/sore throat occur.
