Important Warnings
Not recommended in patients with heart failure/ventricular dysfunction; seek medical advice if shortness of breath, swelling or sudden weight gain occurs. Use with caution in liver disease; liver function monitoring may be needed and stop if symptoms of hepatitis (fatigue, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice) appear. Avoid use in pregnancy unless clearly needed; effective contraception advised during treatment and for some time after. Many significant drug interactions—inform your doctor about all medicines. Acid-reducing agents can lower absorption; take as advised.

Contraindicated/major interactions with simvastatin/lovastatin
quinidine
dofetilide
dronedarone
ergot alkaloids
oral midazolam/triazolam
certain calcium channel blockers
some antiarrhythmics. Increases levels of warfarin
digoxin
cyclosporine/tacrolimus
certain benzodiazepines
sulfonylureas. Rifampicin/rifabutin
phenytoin
carbamazepine
St John’s wort reduce itraconazole levels. PPIs/H2 blockers/antacids may reduce absorption of capsules.
Always tell your doctor about all medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
