Avoid eating or drinking (especially acidic drinks like coffee/cola/juice) 15 minutes before and during use. Typical: 1 gum when urge to smoke occurs; usually 8–12 gums/day initially; do not exceed 24 gums/day. Taper gradually over 8–12 weeks or as advised by doctor. 2 mg is generally for those who smoke <20 cigarettes/day; heavy smokers may require 4 mg or medical advice.
