Sitagliptin (50mg)
Type 2 diabetes mellitus: to improve glycaemic control as an adjunct to diet and exercise; may be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines (as prescribed).
Sitagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor that increases levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). This enhances glucose‑dependent insulin release and reduces glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose with a low risk of hypoglycaemia when used alone.
Take by mouth exactly as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; take at the same time each day. Dose adjustment may be needed in kidney disease—follow doctor’s advice.

Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney impairment (dose adjustment required); periodic renal function monitoring recommended. May cause hypoglycaemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas—dose adjustments may be needed. Report severe joint pain or blistering skin rash (bullous pemphigoid).
