Important Warnings

Prescription medicine. Risk of muscle injury (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis) increased with higher statin exposure—seek medical help for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, especially with fever or dark urine. Liver function abnormalities may occur; periodic LFT monitoring may be needed and avoid in active liver disease. Use caution in kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, elderly, and heavy alcohol use. Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Inform doctor about diabetes risk, previous statin intolerance, or liver disease; avoid grapefruit excess is more relevant to some statins (less for rosuvastatin) but follow clinician advice.

gemfibrozil/other fibrates
high-dose niacin
colchicine (increased myopathy risk); protease inhibitors and some antivirals (may increase rosuvastatin levels); warfarin (INR changes); antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce rosuvastatin absorption—separate dosing); bile acid sequestrants like cholestyramine/colesevelam (reduce ezetimibe absorption—separate dosing); erythromycin (may reduce statin exposure); other lipid-lowering agents
