Telmisartan 40 mg
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events (heart attack/stroke) in high-risk patients when appropriate.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin II–mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. This relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and reduces workload on the heart.
Take orally as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow tablet with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose.
Common side effects of Telkonol 40 Tablet may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm fetus) and generally avoid during breastfeeding unless advised. Use caution in kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, liver impairment, dehydration/low salt states, and in elderly due to risk of low blood pressure. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function (serum creatinine) and potassium; risk of hyperkalemia especially with kidney disease or potassium-raising drugs. Seek urgent care for facial/lip swelling (angioedema) though rare.
