Important Warnings

Prescription-only medicine. Prednisolone can increase risk of infections; avoid close contact with people who have contagious infections and seek medical advice if fever/sore throat occurs. Use caution in diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, osteoporosis, glaucoma/cataract, liver disease and in elderly. Febuxostat may be associated with cardiovascular risk in some patients; use cautiously in patients with heart disease as advised by doctor. Monitor uric acid, liver function and blood pressure/blood sugar if advised. Do not discontinue steroid abruptly; taper under medical supervision.

theophylline (febuxostat interactions)
warfarin (monitor INR)
NSAIDs and aspirin (GI risk with steroid)
diuretics (may affect uric acid)
antidiabetic medicines/insulin (may need dose adjustment)
rifampicin (may reduce febuxostat effect)
phenytoin/carbamazepine (may reduce steroid effect)
live vaccines (avoid with systemic steroids)
