Thaloric 6.25 Tablet contains Chlorthalidone (6.25mg). It belongs to the Xanthine oxidase inhibitor + Corticosteroid class of medicines.
Treatment of gout and hyperuricemia; helps reduce uric acid levels and relieve acute gout inflammation (as prescribed).
Febuxostat inhibits xanthine oxidase, reducing formation of uric acid and lowering serum urate levels to prevent gout attacks. Prednisolone is a corticosteroid that suppresses inflammatory mediators, reducing pain, swelling and redness during acute gout flares.
Take tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, preferably at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food; swallow whole with water. Do not stop prednisolone suddenly; dose may need gradual tapering. Maintain adequate hydration and follow dietary advice for gout.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Thaloric 6.25 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Thaloric than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Thaloric are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Prescription-only medicine. Prednisolone can increase risk of infections; avoid close contact with people who have contagious infections and seek medical advice if fever/sore throat occurs. Use caution in diabetes, hypertension, peptic ulcer disease, osteoporosis, glaucoma/cataract, liver disease and in elderly. Febuxostat may be associated with cardiovascular risk in some patients; use cautiously in patients with heart disease as advised by doctor. Monitor uric acid, liver function and blood pressure/blood sugar if advised. Do not discontinue steroid abruptly; taper under medical supervision.
Azathioprine,mercaptopurine,theophylline (febuxostat interactions),warfarin (monitor INR),NSAIDs and aspirin (GI risk with steroid),diuretics (may affect uric acid),antidiabetic medicines/insulin (may need dose adjustment),rifampicin (may reduce febuxostat effect),phenytoin/carbamazepine (may reduce steroid effect),live vaccines (avoid with systemic steroids)
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate. It makes you feel dizzy. Avoid driving and attention requiring activity until you know how it affects you. Avoid alcohol intake while taking Thaloric 6.25 Tablet as it may increase the dizziness. It may cause a sudden drop of sodium level in blood. Avoid low sodium diet while you are taking this medication. Monitor your blood pressure after starting Thaloric 6.25 Tablet, and notify your doctor if it does not lower down. Notify your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that does not go away. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. Thaloric 6.25 Tablet helps lower blood pressure and also removes excess water from your body. Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.
