Type 2 diabetes only (not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis). Seek medical help for severe abdominal pain (possible pancreatitis), blistering skin rash (bullous pemphigoid), or signs of allergic reaction. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases if used with insulin or sulfonylureas.
