Important Warnings

May cause gastrointestinal side effects due to fermentation of undigested carbohydrates. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when used with insulin or sulfonylureas—if low sugar occurs, treat with oral glucose (dextrose) rather than sucrose/table sugar. Use with caution in liver disease; periodic liver function monitoring may be advised. Avoid/use with caution in inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction, colonic ulceration, or chronic intestinal disorders. Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Drug Interactions

Voglistat 0.3 Tab may interact with the following:

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia)
other antidiabetic medicines (additive glucose-lowering)
intestinal adsorbents and digestive enzyme preparations (may reduce effect)
warfarin (monitor if used together)
alpha-glucosidase inhibitors with laxatives (may worsen diarrhoea)
