How Voglistat 0.3 Tablet works

Voglibose is an alpha‑glucosidase inhibitor that delays digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the small intestine. This reduces the rise in blood glucose after meals and helps improve overall glycaemic control.

How to take Voglistat 0.3 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Usually taken just before the start of each main meal (or with the first bite of food) as prescribed. If you skip a meal, skip the dose. Follow diet/exercise plan; monitor blood glucose regularly.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause low blood sugar and marked stomach upset. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Warnings and precautions

May cause gastrointestinal side effects due to fermentation of undigested carbohydrates. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when used with insulin or sulfonylureas—if low sugar occurs, treat with oral glucose (dextrose) rather than sucrose/table sugar. Use with caution in liver disease; periodic liver function monitoring may be advised. Avoid/use with caution in inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction, colonic ulceration, or chronic intestinal disorders. Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Do not take Voglistat if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with heart failure, active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine.

Interactions with other medicines

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased risk of hypoglycaemia),other antidiabetic medicines (additive glucose-lowering),intestinal adsorbents and digestive enzyme preparations (may reduce effect),warfarin (monitor if used together),alpha-glucosidase inhibitors with laxatives (may worsen diarrhoea)

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
