Important Warnings

Prescription-only medicine. Risk of pancreatitis—seek medical help for severe persistent abdominal pain. May cause gallbladder disease (gallstones), dehydration and acute kidney injury especially with vomiting/diarrhoea; maintain fluids. Can increase heart rate; use caution in patients with cardiac disease. Risk of hypoglycaemia when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Not recommended in patients with personal/family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2; report neck lump/hoarseness/dysphagia. Use caution in severe gastrointestinal disease (e.g., gastroparesis). Do not use for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Drug Interactions

Insulin and sulfonylureas (increased hypoglycaemia risk)
other GLP-1 receptor agonists (avoid duplication)
medicines requiring rapid gastrointestinal absorption (may be affected due to delayed gastric emptying)
warfarin/other anticoagulants (monitor INR when starting/changing dose)
oral contraceptives (generally no clinically meaningful effect but monitor if vomiting/diarrhoea)
