Important Warnings

Do not use if allergic to iodine/povidone-iodine. Avoid use on large areas, deep puncture wounds or severe burns unless advised by a doctor. Prolonged/excessive use or application on large wounds may affect thyroid function—use caution in thyroid disease, infants/young children, and during pregnancy/lactation. Stop use and seek medical advice if irritation, swelling or worsening occurs. Not for internal use; avoid eyes, mouth and genital mucosa.

May interfere with thyroid function tests and radioiodine scans/therapy. Increased risk of systemic iodine absorption with extensive use; caution with lithium (risk of hypothyroidism/goitre). Reduced activity when used with other topical antiseptics (e.g.
hydrogen peroxide
silver compounds
chlorhexidine
mercurials).
