Uses & Benefits
Prevention and treatment of dehydration due to diarrhoea, vomiting, excessive sweating/heat, mild fluid and electrolyte loss; supportive rehydration during illness
How It Works
ORS provides an optimal balance of glucose and electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride/citrate) to enhance water absorption in the intestine via sodium-glucose co-transport. This helps restore body fluids and electrolyte balance and reduces dehydration symptoms.
Directions for Use
Ready-to-drink oral rehydration beverage. Shake well before use. Sip frequently in small amounts; can be taken with or without food. Use as advised by a doctor, especially for children/elderly; continue feeding/breastfeeding where applicable. Discard if appearance/odour changes; once opened, preferably consume within the same day.
Side Effects
Nausea, abdominal bloating, vomiting (if taken too quickly), mild stomach discomfort
Warnings & Precautions
Seek medical help urgently if severe dehydration, persistent vomiting, blood in stools, high fever, inability to drink, very low urine output, lethargy/confusion. Use with caution in kidney disease, heart failure, uncontrolled diabetes (due to glucose content), or on sodium/potassium-restricted diets. Do not use as the sole fluid source in severe dehydration—may require IV fluids. Not intended to be diluted unless label instructs.
Drug Interactions

No major drug interactions when used as ORS; use caution with drugs that increase potassium (ACE inhibitors/ARBs, potassium-sparing diuretics like spironolactone), and in renal impairment. Separate timing from other oral medicines if vomiting/diarrhoea may affect absorption.
Storage Instructions
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep container tightly closed; refrigerate after opening if label permits and use promptly.
