Uses & Benefits
Allergic conditions with itching (urticaria, dermatitis), relief of pruritus, anxiety/tension (as prescribed), sedation/premedication when advised
How It Works
Hydroxyzine is an H1-antihistamine that blocks histamine-mediated allergy symptoms such as itching and hives. It also has central sedative and anxiolytic effects due to action on the brain, which can cause drowsiness.
Directions for Use
Use only as directed by the doctor. Measure the dose with the provided dropper; may be given with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, give after food. Avoid activities requiring alertness (e.g., cycling) after dosing due to drowsiness.

Warnings & Precautions
May cause significant drowsiness—avoid driving/operating machinery. Use with caution in children (dose by weight), elderly, glaucoma, urinary retention/prostate enlargement, asthma/COPD, liver or kidney disease. Risk of QT prolongation/abnormal heart rhythm—use caution in patients with heart disease, low potassium/magnesium, or those taking QT-prolonging drugs. Do not exceed prescribed dose.
Drug Interactions
Alcohol and other CNS depressants (sedatives, benzodiazepines, opioids) increase drowsiness, QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, some antipsychotics, macrolide/fluoroquinolone antibiotics), anticholinergics (may increase dry mouth/constipation/urinary retention), MAO inhibitors (additive anticholinergic/CNS effects)
