Maintenance treatment of asthma and COPD where inhaled corticosteroid plus LABA is indicated; symptom control and prevention of exacerbations

Fluticasone is an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces airway inflammation and mucus, improving long-term control. Formoterol is a LABA that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle to maintain open airways.

Inhale as prescribed (commonly 1–2 puffs twice daily) using correct transhaler technique. Use regularly; not for sudden attacks. Rinse mouth after use to reduce oral thrush.

Throat irritation, hoarseness, cough, oral thrush, headache, tremor, palpitations

Not a rescue inhaler. Rinse mouth after inhalation. Use caution in untreated infections (including TB), diabetes, osteoporosis, glaucoma/cataract, and cardiovascular disorders. Avoid abrupt discontinuation; monitor for worsening asthma/COPD.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (ritonavir, cobicistat, ketoconazole, itraconazole) increase steroid exposure, beta-blockers, diuretics (hypokalemia), MAO inhibitors/TCAs, other sympathomimetics

Store below 25°C away from heat and direct sunlight; keep dry and capped. Do not puncture or incinerate the canister/device.
