Levothyroxine sodium 12.5 mcg tablet
Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid), thyroid hormone replacement after thyroidectomy, goitre/thyroid suppression therapy as advised by doctor
Levothyroxine is a synthetic form of thyroxine (T4), a natural thyroid hormone. It replaces deficient thyroid hormone and is converted in the body to the active hormone (T3), helping normalize metabolism, energy, heart rate and growth.
Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily on an empty stomach (preferably morning) 30–60 minutes before food with water. Take at the same time each day; avoid taking along with calcium/iron/antacids—keep a 4-hour gap unless advised otherwise.

Use under medical supervision with regular TSH/T4 monitoring. Overtreatment can cause hyperthyroidism, arrhythmias, angina and bone loss/osteoporosis. Use caution in elderly and in patients with heart disease, hypertension, adrenal insufficiency (should be treated first), and diabetes (may alter glucose control). Not for weight loss/obesity management. Seek urgent care for chest pain, severe palpitations or breathlessness.
Calcium salts,iron salts,antacids containing aluminium/magnesium,sucralfate,cholestyramine/colestipol,sevelamer (reduce absorption); proton pump inhibitors and dietary fibre/soy products may reduce absorption; warfarin (increased anticoagulant effect),antidiabetic medicines (dose adjustment may be needed),amiodarone,carbamazepine,phenytoin,rifampicin,sertraline (may alter thyroid hormone levels),oestrogens/oral contraceptives (may increase requirement)
