Mucolytic for productive (phlegmy) cough and chest congestion; helps in respiratory conditions with thick mucus such as acute/chronic bronchitis, COPD, and other mucous plugging states as advised by doctor.

Acetylcysteine breaks disulfide bonds in mucus, reducing its viscosity and making sputum easier to cough out. It also has antioxidant action by replenishing glutathione, which may help reduce oxidative stress in the airways.

Dissolve one effervescent tablet completely in a glass of water and drink immediately. Take as prescribed by your doctor, preferably after food to reduce stomach upset; maintain adequate hydration. Do not chew or swallow the tablet whole.

Schedule H: use on prescription. Use with caution in asthma/bronchospasm (may worsen wheezing), history of peptic ulcer disease, and if you have significant breathing difficulty. Stop and seek medical help if you develop allergic reactions (rash, swelling, breathing trouble). If cough persists beyond a few days, is accompanied by high fever, chest pain, blood in sputum, or worsening breathlessness, consult a doctor.

Antitussives (cough suppressants like codeine/dextromethorphan) may hinder mucus clearance; nitroglycerin/nitrates may increase risk of headache and hypotension; activated charcoal may reduce effect if taken together; separate from certain oral antibiotics by at least 2 hours as advised (to avoid reduced absorption/compatibility issues).

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and heat; keep tube tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
