Used as a sterile, single-use scalp vein set (butterfly needle) for venipuncture to collect blood samples or for short-term intravenous infusion/administration of fluids and medicines.
How It Works
A scalp vein set provides a small-gauge winged needle connected to flexible tubing to access a peripheral vein. It enables controlled blood withdrawal or IV infusion with better needle stability and reduced movement during the procedure.
Directions for Use
For use by trained healthcare professionals only. Use a new sterile pack for each procedure; do not reuse. Connect tubing to a compatible syringe/vacutainer holder/IV line as per protocol, perform skin antisepsis, insert needle into suitable peripheral vein, secure wings, complete collection/infusion, then remove and apply pressure and dressing; dispose in a sharps container.
Side Effects
Pain at insertion site, bruising/hematoma, minor bleeding, local swelling, phlebitis, infection at puncture site, vasovagal reaction, infiltration/extravasation (if used for infusion)
Warnings & Precautions
Single-use and sterile; do not use if pack is opened, damaged, or past expiry. Use aseptic technique to reduce infection risk. Risk of needle-stick injury—use appropriate PPE and safe disposal.
