Glyceryl Trinitrate (Nitroglycerin) 6.5 mg (sustained/controlled release)
Prevention (prophylaxis) of angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease; may be used as adjunct in chronic stable angina as per physician advice
Glyceryl trinitrate is converted to nitric oxide in vascular smooth muscle, increasing cGMP and causing vasodilation. This reduces venous return (preload) and myocardial oxygen demand and also dilates coronary arteries to improve blood flow.
Take as prescribed by the doctor, usually swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the sustained-release capsule. It may be taken with or without food; try to take it at the same time each day. If a dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is close to the next dose.
Common side effects of Angispan TR 6.5 Capsule may include:
May cause marked hypotension and dizziness—rise slowly and avoid driving if symptomatic. Do not use with medicines for erectile dysfunction (PDE5 inhibitors) due to life-threatening fall in blood pressure. Use with caution in low blood pressure, dehydration, severe anemia, increased intracranial pressure, recent heart attack, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, or severe aortic stenosis. Continuous use can lead to tolerance; follow the dosing schedule advised by the doctor.
