Amlodipine (2.5mg)

Treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), prevention and treatment of chest pain due to angina (chronic stable angina, vasospastic/Prinzmetal angina); helps reduce risk of cardiovascular events related to uncontrolled BP

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart’s workload. It also improves blood flow to the heart muscle to relieve angina.

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Schedule H medicine—use on prescription only. Use with caution in liver impairment (may need lower dose), severe aortic stenosis, heart failure, and in patients prone to low blood pressure. May cause dizziness—avoid driving/operating machinery if affected. Monitor blood pressure regularly; do not discontinue without consulting a doctor.

Other antihypertensives (additive BP lowering),CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., clarithromycin, erythromycin, azole antifungals, ritonavir) may increase amlodipine levels,grapefruit juice may increase levels,simvastatin (limit simvastatin dose as advised),CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin) may reduce effect

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
