Important Warnings
Not for sudden breathing problems/status asthmaticus—use a rescue bronchodilator as prescribed. Rinse mouth after use to prevent oral fungal infection. Use with caution in active/latent tuberculosis, untreated systemic infections, and in patients with glaucoma/cataract risk. Long-term/high-dose use may cause adrenal suppression, reduced bone mineral density, growth suppression in children, or increased risk of pneumonia in COPD—use the lowest effective dose and monitor if on prolonged therapy. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase systemic budesonide levels (e.g.
ketoconazole
itraconazole
voriconazole
ritonavir/cobicistat
clarithromycin). Other corticosteroids/immunosuppressants may increase risk of systemic steroid effects and infections. Live vaccines: use with caution in immunosuppressed patients.
