Important Warnings

Risk of hypoglycaemia—more likely with missed meals, excessive exercise, alcohol intake, elderly, kidney/liver impairment, or when combined with other antidiabetics. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use caution in renal/hepatic disease; monitor blood glucose and HbA1c regularly. Stop and seek care if severe allergy, jaundice, or unusual bleeding/bruising occurs. During illness, surgery, or reduced intake, dose adjustment may be needed; do not change dose without medical advice.

corticosteroids (raise glucose)
thiazide/loop diuretics (raise glucose)
rifampicin (may reduce effect)
warfarin (monitor INR)
