Losartan potassium 25 mg
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure); may also be used to reduce risk of stroke in hypertension with left ventricular hypertrophy and for kidney protection in diabetic nephropathy as prescribed.
Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks AT1 receptors, relaxing blood vessels and reducing aldosterone effects, which lowers blood pressure and decreases strain on the heart and kidneys.
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily, with or without food. Take at the same time each day; swallow with water. Do not stop abruptly without medical advice; monitor blood pressure regularly.
Common side effects of Losar 25 Tablet may include:
May cause dizziness especially after first dose—use caution while driving. Monitor kidney function and serum potassium, particularly in elderly, dehydrated patients, and those with kidney disease. Risk of hyperkalemia—avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless advised. Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm fetus), especially in 2nd/3rd trimester. Use caution in liver impairment and in volume depletion (vomiting/diarrhea/diuretics). Seek urgent help for swelling of face/lips (angioedema).
