Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves pain by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the brain and acting on the heat-regulating center (hypothalamus). It has minimal anti-inflammatory effect compared with NSAIDs.
Dosage & Directions
Tablet: Take as directed by a doctor. Common adult use is 1 tablet (500 mg) every 4–6 hours as needed; do not exceed 4,000 mg paracetamol/day from all sources. Can be taken with or without food; take with food if it upsets the stomach.
