Important Warnings

Type 2 diabetes only (not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis). Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increases with kidney disease, severe dehydration, sepsis, heavy alcohol use, or hypoxia; kidney function should be checked before and during treatment. Sitagliptin has been associated rarely with pancreatitis and severe joint pain; seek medical help for severe abdominal pain. Use caution in renal impairment; dose adjustment/avoidance may be required depending on kidney function. Stop temporarily before iodinated contrast imaging and major surgery as advised by doctor.
