Known side effects of ZITAMET 20/1000 TAB include Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, nasopharyngitis, hypoglycaemia (especially with insulin/sulfonylureas), taste disturbance. Not everyone experiences these side effects.

Important Warnings

Prescription-only antidiabetic. Metformin may rarely cause lactic acidosis—risk increases with kidney impairment, dehydration, severe infection, alcohol use, heart/liver failure; assess renal function before and during therapy. Avoid/use with caution in severe renal impairment; temporarily stop around iodinated contrast procedures and major surgery as advised. DPP-4 inhibitors can rarely cause pancreatitis or severe joint pain; seek medical help for severe abdominal pain. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
