How It Works
Dextromethorphan suppresses the cough reflex by acting on the cough centre in the brain. Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant that constricts swollen nasal blood vessels to relieve blockage. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that reduces allergy symptoms such as sneezing, watery eyes and runny nose.
Directions for Use
Oral syrup. Shake well before use and measure with a cup/spoon. Take as advised by the doctor; may be taken with or without food. Avoid using with other cough/cold products containing similar ingredients; do not exceed prescribed dose.
May cause sleepiness; avoid driving/operating machinery. Use with caution in hypertension, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, glaucoma, enlarged prostate/urinary retention, liver disease and in elderly. Not recommended for children unless prescribed. Do not use for persistent/chronic cough due to asthma/COPD or if cough is accompanied by excessive phlegm unless advised by a doctor. Seek medical help if symptoms persist >3–5 days, high fever, wheeze, rash, or breathing difficulty occurs.

MAO inhibitors (contraindicated/avoid within 14 days), other CNS depressants/sedatives (increased drowsiness), SSRIs/SNRIs/TCAs/linezolid (risk of serotonin syndrome with dextromethorphan), antihypertensives (phenylephrine may reduce effect), other sympathomimetics/decongestants (additive BP/HR increase), anticholinergics (additive dry mouth/urinary retention)
