Bacterial infections such as ear infection (otitis media), throat/tonsil infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis), sinusitis, community-acquired respiratory tract infections (bronchitis/pneumonia), urinary tract infections, and skin & soft tissue infections (as prescribed).

Cefpodoxime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis (binding to penicillin-binding proteins), leading to bacterial cell death. It is active against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Oral dry syrup: reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the marked level, shake well. Give the prescribed dose using a measuring cup/syringe, preferably with food. Shake well before each dose and complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, headache, dizziness, rash, itching, oral/vaginal candidiasis

Use only for suspected/confirmed bacterial infection; not effective for viral infections. Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to cefpodoxime/cephalosporins; use caution with history of penicillin allergy. Dose adjustment and monitoring may be required in kidney disease. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; seek medical help for severe/persistent diarrhoea (risk of C. difficile). Inform doctor if history of colitis, severe allergy, or on anticoagulants.

Probenecid (may increase cefpodoxime levels), antacids/H2 blockers like ranitidine/famotidine (may reduce absorption), warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk; monitor INR), live oral typhoid vaccine (reduced effect)

Store dry powder at room temperature below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. After reconstitution, store in a refrigerator (2–8°C) and use within 14 days (or as per label); do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed and out of reach of children.
