Relief of productive cough (chest congestion) with thick mucus, bronchitis/airway inflammation with mucus, as an adjunct in respiratory tract infections with excessive secretions.
Mucolytics/expectorants thin and loosen thick mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough out. This helps clear chest congestion and improves breathing comfort.
Shake well before use. Measure with a dosing cup/spoon and take by mouth as advised by a doctor. Usually taken 2–3 times daily; may be taken with or without food. Drink plenty of fluids unless advised otherwise.
Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, rash
Do not use for persistent cough lasting >1–2 weeks, or with fever, rash, or persistent headache unless advised by a doctor. Use with caution in asthma (risk of bronchospasm), history of peptic ulcer/acid reflux, liver or kidney impairment. Seek medical help if breathing difficulty, wheezing, swelling, or severe allergy occurs. Avoid combining with cough suppressants unless prescribed, as mucus may get retained.
Cough suppressants (e.g., dextromethorphan, codeine) may reduce mucus clearance; some mucolytics can increase antibiotic penetration into bronchial secretions (clinically used together).
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
