Treatment of fungal skin infections with associated inflammation/itching such as tinea (ringworm), athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and cutaneous candidiasis when significant redness and itching are present.
Clobetasol propionate is a very potent topical corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness and itching by suppressing local inflammatory mediators. Miconazole is an imidazole antifungal that damages fungal cell membranes by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis, stopping fungal growth.
For external use only. Clean and dry the affected area, then apply a thin layer to the affected skin 1–2 times daily or as prescribed. Avoid covering with occlusive dressings unless advised. Use for the shortest duration needed; do not apply on face, groin, armpits, broken skin, or large areas unless prescribed.
Burning, stinging, itching, dryness, redness, irritation, skin thinning (atrophy), stretch marks, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, increased hair growth, secondary infection
Schedule H: use only on prescription. Do not use for viral skin infections (herpes, chickenpox), tuberculosis of skin, untreated bacterial infections, or on open wounds. Prolonged or extensive use (especially under occlusion) can cause systemic corticosteroid effects (adrenal suppression, Cushingoid features), particularly in children. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Stop and seek medical advice if worsening, severe irritation, or no improvement within 1–2 weeks; antifungal therapy alone may be preferred once inflammation settles.
No major systemic interactions expected with topical use, but increased steroid absorption with occlusive dressings or use with other topical corticosteroids. Topical miconazole may rarely enhance anticoagulant effect of warfarin if significant absorption occurs; use caution in patients on anticoagulants when used over large areas/prolonged.
