Azithromycin (100mg)

Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia), ear infections (otitis media), and skin/soft tissue infections; as prescribed by a doctor

Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. This stops bacterial growth and helps clear the infection.

Oral suspension (ready mix). Shake well before each use and measure with a proper measuring cup/spoon. Give the dose exactly as prescribed (often once daily) and complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Can be taken with or without food; taking with food may reduce stomach upset.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, indigestion, headache, dizziness, rash

Use only for bacterial infections. Do not use if allergic to azithromycin/erythromycin/macrolides. Use with caution in liver disease, history of jaundice with azithromycin, myasthenia gravis, and in patients at risk of QT prolongation/arrhythmias (electrolyte imbalance, existing heart rhythm disorders, use of QT-prolonging drugs). Seek medical help for severe diarrhoea (possible C. difficile), severe skin reactions, or signs of liver problems (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine).

Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (separate dosing), warfarin and other anticoagulants (increased bleeding risk), digoxin (increased levels), cyclosporine, statins (rare myopathy risk), other QT-prolonging medicines (e.g., amiodarone, sotalol, certain antipsychotics/fluoroquinolones)

Store at room temperature below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep bottle tightly closed. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children.
