Zifi-Az

Zifi-Az contains Cefixime (200mg) + Azithromycin (250mg) and is used for bacterial infections. Prescription required.

Bacterial infections

Zifi-AZ Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Cefixime and Azithromycin. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Azithromycin stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Zifi-AZ Tablet may be taken with or without food.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Finish the whole course even after you feel better — stopping early breeds resistant bacteria. Tell your doctor if you have ever had a severe reaction to penicillin; a small proportion of people react to both groups. Report severe or watery loose motions during or after the course rather than treating them yourself. Several medicines in this group are on Schedule H1 precisely because overuse drives antibiotic resistance. Take it only when a doctor has prescribed it for you. Finish the whole course even after you feel better. Tell your doctor if you have a heart rhythm problem or take a medicine for one — this group can affect the heart's electrical timing.

Antacids, iron and zinc reduce absorption — separate them by a couple of hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner. Interacts with a long list of medicines, including statins, some heart medicines and blood thinners — tell your doctor everything you take. Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
