High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), mixed dyslipidemia, high triglycerides, prevention of cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke) in at-risk patients

Rosuvastatin is a statin that inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, the key enzyme involved in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This lowers LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and triglycerides and can modestly raise HDL (“good”) cholesterol, reducing atherosclerotic risk.

Take as directed by a doctor, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; continue diet and exercise along with therapy. Do not stop on your own; periodic lipid and liver tests may be advised.

Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, constipation, muscle pain (myalgia), weakness, dizziness, increased liver enzymes

Not recommended in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use with caution in liver disease, heavy alcohol use, thyroid disorders, kidney problems, and in elderly due to higher muscle side-effect risk. Seek medical help if you develop unexplained muscle pain/weakness, fever, or dark urine (risk of myopathy/rhabdomyolysis). Liver function tests may be required; avoid in active liver disease.

Cyclosporine, gemfibrozil/other fibrates, niacin (high dose), protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir-boosted regimens), anticoagulants like warfarin (INR monitoring), ezetimibe (increased muscle risk), antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (reduce absorption; separate dosing), colchicine (increased myopathy risk)

Store below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.
