Bacterial infections such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections (pharyngitis/tonsillitis, sinusitis, bronchitis), ear infection (otitis media), urinary tract infections, and uncomplicated typhoid fever (as prescribed).

Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to death of susceptible bacteria.

Dry syrup: Reconstitute with boiled and cooled water up to the mark, shake well. Give the measured dose using a measuring cup/syringe as prescribed, once or twice daily. Can be taken with or without food; if stomach upset occurs, take with food. Shake well before each dose and complete the full course.

Use only for bacterial infections; do not use for viral illness. Inform doctor if allergic to cephalosporins/penicillins (cross‑allergy possible). Use with caution in kidney disease; dose adjustment may be needed. Prolonged use may cause superinfection; seek care for severe/persistent diarrhoea (risk of C. difficile). Stop and seek urgent help if signs of severe allergy (swelling, breathing difficulty) or severe skin rash occur.

Warfarin/other anticoagulants (may increase bleeding risk/INR), Probenecid (may increase cefixime levels), live oral typhoid vaccine (reduced response), antacids/H2 blockers may reduce absorption if taken together (separate dosing if advised).

Store dry powder tightly closed at room temperature, protected from moisture. After reconstitution, store as per label (commonly refrigerated 2–8°C or at cool room temperature), do not freeze; use within the period mentioned on pack (often 7–14 days).
