Zoxan Eye/Ear Drops

Zoxan Eye/Ear Drops contains Ciprofloxacin (0.3% w/v) and is used for bacterial eye/ear infections. Prescription required.

Treatment of Bacterial eye/ear infections

Zoxan Eye/Ear Drops is an antibiotic. It treats bacterial eye/ear infections by preventing the bacteria from dividing and repairing. It does so by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase.

This medicine is for external use only.Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye/ear without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid or ear. Wipe off extra liquid.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Stop and contact your doctor at once if you develop pain, swelling or tenderness in a tendon — the Achilles tendon at the back of the ankle in particular. This group can damage tendons, and the risk is higher in older people and with steroids. Report any new numbness, tingling or burning in the hands or feet promptly. Tell your doctor about any change in mood, confusion or agitation. Avoid strong sunlight and use sun protection — this group makes the skin burn more easily. Finish the whole course; this group is heavily associated with antibiotic resistance and should be used only when prescribed.

Antacids, iron, zinc, calcium and milk markedly reduce absorption — separate them by at least two hours. Tell your doctor if you take steroids, a blood thinner or a medicine for heart rhythm.

Store below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Discard the bottle one month after you first open it, even if some is left. Keep out of the reach of children.
